Multiple European Airports Experience Ongoing Disruptions Following Cyberattack on Friday

The airport in the German capital was one of the most affected, with a spokesperson for Berlin Airport stating to the German press agency (dpa) that the airport expected to welcome around 95,000 passengers, a figure higher than the usual average of 75,000 to 85,000 for a Monday. The spokesperson also noted that the return of thousands of participants in the German capital's marathon, which took place on Sunday, added extra pressure on operations.

Other Affected Airports

Other major European airports, including those in Dublin, Brussels, and London Heathrow, are still experiencing disruptions several days after the attack.

  • In Brussels, the airport asked airlines to cancel half of the scheduled flights for Monday, advising passengers to arrive at the airport two to three hours before departure.
  • At Heathrow, staff worked to restore operations, with the majority of flights expected to depart on time, although check-in issues persisted until late afternoon.
  • In Dublin, 13 flights had been canceled by mid-day Sunday, as technical issues were still being resolved.

The cyberattack has caused significant disruptions to air travel across Europe, with airports and airlines working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest information on flight schedules and to arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare.
