Palestinian Prime Minister Estimates Gaza Reconstruction to Cost $67 Billion
The Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafa, stated on Thursday that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is estimated to require approximately $67 billion, according to international estimates, to fund projects and programs covering various sectors, as reported by the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
International Cooperation and Support
The Prime Minister specified, during a meeting with nearly 100 personalities, representing international and UN institutions, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Palestine, as well as a number of ministers, that this plan will be implemented in cooperation with international partners. According to Wafa, he emphasized that the process must be led by the Palestinians, with Arab and international support, to ensure a sustainable and promising reconstruction.
Devastating Consequences of the War
The Israeli entity has waged a two-year genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, resulting in over 238,000 martyrs and wounded, mostly women and children, as well as more than 11,000 missing persons. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced, while a deadly famine has claimed the lives of many people, including children, amidst massive destruction that has erased most of the cities and towns from the territory.
A Call for Sustainable Reconstruction
The Prime Minister's statement highlights the need for a comprehensive and sustainable reconstruction plan, led by the Palestinians and supported by the international community, to address the devastating consequences of the war and ensure a promising future for the people of Gaza.
