Tunisian Customs Foil Attempt to Smuggle Foreign Currency
The Tunisian customs services at the Ras Jedir border post have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle foreign currency estimated to be worth approximately 1.5 million dinars.
According to a statement released on Friday, November 7, 2025, by the General Directorate of Customs, the operation resulted in the seizure of 400,000 euros and 40,000 dollars, which were carefully hidden in a foreign-registered vehicle preparing to leave the country.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the carefully concealed sums. A seizure report was established, and upon instruction from the public prosecutor's office, the case was referred to the competent security services for further investigation.
