Rare and Protected Spotted Hyena Seized by Grombalia Security Forces
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the security forces of Grombalia successfully seized a rare and protected spotted hyena, held by a group of nine individuals as part of occult practices and sorcery. The animal, captured using traps, had severe injuries to its limbs. The forestry services of Nabeul, in coordination with the General Forest Administration and with the support of the manager of a wild animal breeding center in Houaria, took charge of its rescue. Transferred to a veterinary clinic, the hyena underwent a complex surgical operation to treat its injuries, and its health condition has stabilized.
Following this intervention, the animal was placed in safety at the breeding center. Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office ordered the arrest of the nine individuals involved for illegal possession of a protected animal, sorcery practices, and fraud. The investigation is still ongoing.
