The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) has announced the provisional dates for Ramadan 2026 in France, marking the beginning of the sacred month of fasting and prayer for the Muslim community.
According to astronomical calculations, the month of Ramadan is expected to begin on Thursday, February 19, 2026, based on the new moon conjunction predicted on Tuesday, February 17 at 1:01 PM (Paris time). However, the CFCM notes that this date remains subject to confirmation or adjustment after the traditional "night of doubt", when the lunar crescent is observed to officially determine the start of Ramadan.
The sacred month, which usually lasts 29 or 30 days, is expected to end on Friday, March 20, 2026, a date anticipated for the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a festival marking the end of fasting. The CFCM emphasizes that Ramadan is a central moment in the spiritual life of Muslims, combining fasting, prayer, and sharing.
