Ministry of Religious Affairs Announces Nearly 100,000 Religious Activities for Ramadan

The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced on Monday, February 16, 2026, the programming of nearly 100,000 varied religious activities for the month of Ramadan, aiming to strengthen the spiritual and human values specific to this sacred month.

Among these initiatives, the ministry plans to intensify jurisprudence (fiqh) courses between prayers, in order to guide the faithful in their practice and consolidate their spiritual commitment.

During a conference organized at the ministry's headquarters under the theme "Ramadan: Purification of the Soul and Preservation of Health," Minister Ahmed Bouhali recalled that fasting is a powerful tool for developing the individual's spiritual dimension, strengthening their will, and promoting self-control.

According to him, these teachings must push for the elevation of ambitions and exemplary behavior, a mission that the ministry seeks to promote by relying on preachers and imams across the country.

The minister also emphasized the importance for society to fully benefit from the month of fasting, by respecting the prophetic sunnah and the principles of Islam, which contribute to forming balanced, solidarity-based, and environmentally harmonious individuals.

In this context, the Mufti of the Republic, Hichem Ben Mahmoud, highlighted that religious courses aim to forge new generations rooted in the tolerant values of Islam, capable of resisting any manipulation and placing the human and spiritual dimension above materialistic pursuits.

He recalled that Ramadan offers a renewed opportunity to emphasize the unity of the Muslim community and the humanitarian objectives of Islam, particularly in the context of the challenges faced by the Palestinian population in Gaza.

For his part, the President of the University of Zitouna, Abdel Latif Bouazizi, stressed the need to correct the behavior of fasters, noting that previous years' evaluations remain negative due to the increase in verbal violence and the use of fasting as a justification for offensive words.

He called on imams to focus on moral discipline and the refinement of the faithful's behavior, recalling that the quality of societies is measured by their values and ethics, particularly during the month of Ramadan, which is conducive to inculcating the prophetic method.

In parallel, Shiraz Amrouch, head of the nutrition diseases department at the National Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology, provided practical advice to fasters, recalling that fasting has numerous health benefits, particularly for individuals without chronic diseases.

The conference also addressed several jurisprudence issues, such as the conditions and pillars of fasting, the consequences of breaking the fast, the obligation of expiation (kaffara), as well as exceptions and discouraged practices, in order to offer the faithful a comprehensive framework for living Ramadan in respect of tradition and Islamic teachings.
