National Meteorological Institute (INM) Announces Ramadan Crescent Observation
The National Meteorological Institute (INM) has announced that the observation of the Ramadan crescent will take place after sunset on Tuesday, 29 Chaabane 1447 H, corresponding to February 17, 2026.
Observation Committees
In this context, observation committees composed of INM staff and officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs will meet in different districts across the country to supervise the operation and ensure the accuracy of the observations.
Observation Points by District
The observation points by district are as follows:
- District 1: Kef Governorate - Kef Meteorological Station
- District 2: Tunis Governorate - Sidi Belhassen Chadhli Plateau
- District 3: Kairouan Governorate - Kairouan Meteorological Station
- District 4: Tozeur Governorate - Tozeur Meteorological Station
- District 5: Medenine Governorate - Sidi Jmour on the island of Djerba
Coordination with Religious Authorities
The INM emphasizes that this operation is carried out in coordination with religious authorities to ensure the accuracy of the lunar calendar and prepare for the official start of the holy month for all faithful across Tunisia.
