Successful Operation Against Drug Trafficking
In the context of the fight against drug trafficking, the customs services of the Border Commercial Operations Office at the port of Radès have successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of cannabis. The drug was carefully hidden on board a trailer destined for one of the customs clearance warehouses. It was after the trailer passed through the X-ray scanner that the customs officer in charge of X-ray control detected suspicious objects inside. A coordination was then established with the customs canine brigade, which confirmed the presence of narcotics in the trailer. Following this, the trailer was subjected to a thorough search by the specialized customs services of the port. The agents discovered a hiding place arranged under the trailer containing 5380 plates of cannabis resin, weighing a total of 572.5 kg (including packaging). A report was drawn up and, after consultation, the public prosecutor's office authorized the transfer of the file to the specialized security services to continue the investigation and shed light on the circumstances of this operation.
