Qatar’s Interior Ministry Announces Arrest of 313 Individuals for Spreading False Information

The Ministry of Interior of Qatar announced on Monday, 9 March 2026 that 313 people of various nationalities have been detained for “filming, circulating and disseminating misleading information.” The crackdown comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, including ongoing war in the region and Iranian attacks targeting the Gulf.
“The Directorate for Combating Economic and Electronic Crimes, which falls under the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, succeeded in apprehending 313 individuals of different nationalities. These arrests follow the capture of images, the distribution of video footage, and the spread of false information and rumors that could disturb public order,” the ministry said in an official statement.
Call for Vigilance
Authorities stressed the obligation not to film, publish, or share any footage or rumors related to the current situation. The ministry also urged the public to obtain information exclusively from official and authorized sources.
