President Kais Saied Calls for Renewal of Officials and Urgent Measures to Support Purchasing Power

During his meeting with the head of government yesterday, President Kais Saied emphasized the need to renew officials responsible for implementing laws, believing that reform comes through execution rather than the multiplication of texts. The President of the Republic also advocated for urgent measures to support purchasing power.

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, stated during the audience he granted yesterday, February 9, at the Carthage Palace, to Mrs. Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, head of government, that the Tunisian people today need not only new texts but also new officials responsible for their implementation. The essential aspect lies not only in the text itself but also in those who work, with probity, to achieve its objectives. He once again addressed the phenomenon of legislative inflation, combined with the proliferation of institutions, estimating that this is a form of waste of public funds.

The Head of State highlighted the need to develop regulatory texts to preserve citizens' purchasing power and address the rise in prices, while fighting against speculators and reducing non-essential imports. He indicated, in this context, that Tunisia, by choosing to forge its own path, has achieved results that some had hoped would never materialize. Moreover, some individuals, claiming excessive patriotism, did not hesitate to call for the imposition of economic sanctions against our country.

The President of the Republic also discussed investment-related text projects, emphasizing that their implementation requires, above all, the establishment of social justice and the identification of the causes that have hindered their application. He specified that the reasons for delays, blockages, failures, or even attempts at sabotage, do not reside solely in the texts but also in the influence of lobbies within the administration and the spread of corruption. As long as these causes are not eradicated, little will change, or nothing will change.

The Head of State reiterated that work will continue until a new generation assumes responsibilities, a process already underway. The people need not only a new discourse that lifts all ambiguity but also concrete, visible achievements, launched quickly, without obstacles, and completed in the shortest possible time, determined as he is to write a glorious history for Tunisia.

In this context, the President of the Republic highlighted the enthusiasm and determination of Tunisian youth, one of whose examples is their voluntary mobilization, with their own means, to erase the damage caused by the recent torrential rains, in a spirit of solidarity and mutual aid. It is thanks to such citizens that the expectations of the Tunisian people can be fully satisfied. As for those who seek to fuel tensions, they will have to assume full responsibility for their actions before the law.
