Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti Presides Over Ceremony Celebrating 300 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Tunisia and Austria
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, M. Mohamed Ali Nafti, presided over a ceremony held today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Ksar Saïd Palace in Bardo, organized by the Austrian Embassy in Tunisia, to mark the publication of a book titled "300 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Tunisia and Austria". This event is part of the closing of a series of cultural events organized throughout the year 2025 to celebrate three centuries of relations between Tunisia and Austria. These celebrations have resulted in the publication of a book, developed with the contribution of Tunisian and Austrian professors and researchers, which retraces the main historical stages that have marked the relations between the two countries over a period of three hundred years.
On this occasion, Minister Nafti emphasized that these diplomatic and cultural events are a testament to the depth of the ties between Tunisia and Austria and contribute to the enrichment of the common diplomatic memory. He also stressed the need to make the most of the Tunisian-Austrian common heritage so that it serves as a lever to deepen bilateral economic relations and as a foundation for building a partnership focused on the future. For his part, the Austrian Ambassador to Tunisia highlighted the strong symbolic dimension of this event, which reflects the antiquity of the Tunisian-Austrian friendship. He praised the level of relations between the two countries, which have always been marked by cooperation and mutual respect, and expressed his country's willingness to consolidate and ensure their sustainability. This ceremony was attended by several officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tunisia, as well as a group of academics and researchers, in addition to businessmen and cultural and media personalities.
