International Organization Sounds Alarm on Psychological Pressure on Students
The International Organization for the Protection of Mediterranean Children sounded the alarm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, regarding the dangers of psychological pressure exerted on students due to their academic results.
The organization emphasized that the health and well-being of children are far more important than any academic achievement.
Alarming Observation on Family Pressure
In its statement, the organization highlighted that Tunisian families place extreme importance on education, sometimes to an excessive degree. This constant pressure often has the opposite effect and can lead to severe family tragedies, including suicide or attempted suicide.
The organization urges parents to be aware that their children's balance and well-being take precedence over their grades. It reminds them that scientific research proves that a student exposed to stress and mistreatment loses part of their personality and psychological balance.
Call for Education System Reform
The organization called on the Ministry of Education to accelerate the revision of school schedules and lighten the density of programs due to their negative impact on students' performance and well-being. Finally, it stressed the vital importance of revitalizing school clubs (computer science, sports, music, theater, drawing). These activities are essential for:
- Relieving psychological stress
- Developing talents and building personality
- Protecting children from street dangers
The organization's warning aims to raise awareness about the need to prioritize children's mental health and well-being in the education system. By promoting a more balanced approach to education, the organization hopes to prevent tragic consequences and ensure a healthier and more supportive environment for students to thrive.
