Agricultural Expert Predicts 4.6% Increase in Summer Stone Fruit Production for 2025-2026 Season

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, agricultural expert Anis Ben Rayana announced that the production of summer stone fruits for the 2025-2026 season has seen a 4.6% increase compared to the previous season.

The expected production for this season is expected to reach approximately 263,000 tonnes, representing a 4.5% growth compared to last year. He also noted that the cultivated areas have exceeded 191,000 hectares.

According to Ben Rayana, four governorates account for nearly 68% of the cultivated areas. The governorate of Sfax leads the way with 46,000 hectares, followed by Kairouan with 33,000 hectares, Kasserine with 27,000 hectares, and Mahdia with 22,000 hectares.

Ben Rayana also highlighted that among the main varieties of stone fruits, the cherry, known locally as "habb el moulouk", is a prominent one. The governorate of Siliana holds the top national spot in its production, with a share of 85%.

Finally, he noted that the total production of these fruits approaches 700,000 tonnes, spread across seven governorates: Siliana, Kasserine, Le Kef, Jendouba, Béja, Zaghouan, and Nabeul.
