President of the People's Representatives Assembly Addresses Gabès Situation

The President of the People's Representatives Assembly, Ibrahim Bouderbala, stated during a plenary session dedicated to discussing the situation in Gabès, that this file is subject to constant and careful follow-up by the President of the Republic. "The Head of State has emphasized the need to address this file with new approaches," he highlighted. Bouderbala specified that work is underway to find urgent and immediate solutions to pollution, while awaiting the development of a comprehensive and sustainable strategy, not only for Gabès, but for all regions of the country. He stressed the role of all state institutions, which must examine the causes of the current situation and define the means to remedy it, while implementing constitutional provisions guaranteeing the state the necessary means to eradicate pollution. The President of the Parliament also advocated for in-depth dialogue and collective solution-seeking. He recalled that the plenary session was decided by the Assembly's bureau in light of the persistent deterioration of the situation in Gabès, which he described as a result of decades of neglect and poorly designed environmental policies. Bouderbala estimated that it is now essential to examine reality in all its aspects, whether it concerns the health consequences of environmental risks or the right of citizens to express themselves and claim peacefully. He also expressed his solidarity with the inhabitants of Gabès, praising their sense of responsibility and vigilance in the face of any attempt to manipulate the situation for suspicious purposes. The plenary session was held in the presence of the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, and the Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari.
