Algerian President Appoints New Prime Minister
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune appointed Sifi Ghrieb as the new Prime Minister on Sunday, tasking him with forming a new government. In a statement from the presidency, it was specified that the Head of State received Sifi Ghrieb, who was already serving as interim Prime Minister, and officially designated him to form the new ministerial cabinet. Former Minister of Industry, Sifi Ghrieb had taken the helm of the government on an interim basis last month after the dismissal of Nader Larbaoui. This appointment is part of a larger ministerial reshuffle. Algeria is currently seeking to diversify its economy to address growing socio-economic challenges, while maintaining its role as a primary energy supplier to several European countries.
