Commemorating the 40th Day After the Passing of Fadhel Jaziri
To commemorate the 40th day after the death of theater and cinema man Fadhel Jaziri (1948-2025), the Ministry of Cultural Affairs is organizing a two-day tribute. This event, organized by the Regional Delegation of Cultural Affairs of Tunis and the Tunisian National Theater, will take place on Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20. The festivities will be held at the Ibn Rachiq Cultural Center and the Fourth Art Theater, both located on Avenue de Paris in Tunis.
Program of Events
According to the program published on the ministry's website on Friday evening, both venues will host a commemoration ceremony starting at 5:00 PM. Live testimonials will be paid in tribute to the late Fadhel Jaziri. At the Ibn Rachiq Cultural Center, there will also be an artistic exhibition, a documentary film screening, and a book signing in his honor.
Tribute at the Fourth Art Theater
The Fourth Art Theater, on the other hand, will offer an artistic program including the play "My Dear Neighbor," the last creation of Fadhel Jaziri, which combines theater and dance. This play was performed at the Hammamet International Festival the day before his death.
Biography of Fadhel Jaziri
Born in 1948 in Tunis, Fadhel Jaziri passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the age of 77, in his family home in Tunis, after a long illness. As an artist, actor, director, and producer of theater, musical performances, and cinematic works, Jaziri left his mark on the history of Tunisian theater and cinema. His career, spanning over 50 years, was marked by creativity and innovation.
Legacy of Fadhel Jaziri
Jaziri leaves behind a rich and diverse artistic legacy that has profoundly impacted Tunisian culture. He was a committed and visionary artist who, through his plays, films, and performances, addressed the major issues of society with force and precision. He also founded a project close to his heart, the "Djerba Arts Center," inaugurated on November 10, 2022. This center aimed to contribute to the decentralization of artistic and cultural offerings.
