Finance Minister Requests Suspension of Plenary Session on 2026 Budget Bill
The Minister of Finance, Michket Slama Khaldi, requested the suspension of the plenary session on the 2026 budget bill on Saturday. This decision came after the rejection of several articles by the members of the National Council of Regions and Districts (CNRD).
Rejected Articles
The members first rejected Article 72, which concerned the reduction of customs duties for the eyewear sector. They also refused Article 73, related to equipment for renewable energies when no local alternative exists.
Additionally, they dismissed Article 74, which dealt with the recovery of export revenues. The elected officials also rejected the article providing for a revision of tax benefits granted to Tunisians residing abroad for the importation of equipment or the purchase of a truck as part of a project.
Finally, Article 84, concerning the treatment of delays in penalties related to public contracts, was also rejected.
