A New Tunisia: Towards a Social State

The new Tunisia, since the process of July 25, 2021, has been marked by its approach advocating for the establishment of a social state that benefits all social categories and regions of the country, particularly those that were once marginalized. This term and concept should be banned from the Tunisian vocabulary, as rightly mentioned by the President of the Republic.

A Vision for Equitable Development

During a recent meeting with the Minister of Social Affairs, President Kais Saied reiterated his vision for the need to provide all regions with equitable development through infrastructure and amenities without distinction or exclusion. The social state option requires the state to play its role and fulfill its responsibilities, including "guaranteeing conditions of dignity, pride, and social justice for all."

A National Issue

While ensuring that this is also a national issue, the Head of State emphasized that the so-called marginalized categories were not born in this state but are rather "victims of the limitations of public policies, which have been in place for several decades and have led to exclusion, poverty, and impoverishment of the Tunisian people."

A Commitment to Inclusion

This is not the first time the President of the Republic has addressed the issue of marginalized categories. During a previous meeting with the President of the National Council of Regions and Districts, he indicated that these regions now have representatives within the Council, allowing them to participate concretely in "drafting legislation that eliminates all causes of exclusion and marginalization."

A Viable and Egalitarian Project

The Head of State has been clearer than ever in stating that the conceived societal project is viable, just, and egalitarian, especially if the people show unwavering determination and unbroken unity. He has also been keen on listening directly to the concerns and expectations of citizens, as seen during his meeting with two young people from the delegation of Mezzouna and the city of Bizerte.

A War of Liberation

In the spirit of better understanding the problems and obstacles faced by Tunisians in various regions, including the most remote ones, President Kais Saied has always believed that the country is waging a true war of liberation at all levels to put public infrastructure and mechanisms back on track after suffering from severe degradation over the past few decades.

Field Visits and Direct Contact

The President's interest in multiple field visits has allowed for direct contact with inhabitants of different regions, inevitably leading to measures in their favor. In brief, the approach towards a unified and social state followed by President Kais Saied is bearing fruit, as seen in the notable improvement of living conditions and the emergence of just, sustainable, and global development.
