Tunisair Flight Carries 21 Beneficiaries of Martyrs to Hajj Pilgrimage
A Tunisair Flight Departed Yesterday Evening, Carrying 21 Beneficiaries of Martyrs to the Hajj Pilgrimage
A Tunisair flight departed from the Tunis-Carthage International Airport's Terminal 2 around 7:30 PM yesterday evening, carrying 21 beneficiaries of martyrs of terrorist attacks and the Revolution. The flight was fully sponsored by the Fidâa Foundation, which is responsible for assisting victims of terrorist attacks among military personnel, security forces, customs agents, and families of martyrs and wounded from the Revolution.
In a statement to the media last night, Fidâa Foundation President Ahmed Jaâfar explained that the institution covered all expenses related to the Hajj pilgrimage rites for these beneficiaries, whose loved ones sacrificed their lives for the country to ensure Tunisia remains dignified and sovereign forever.
He added that the selection process for beneficiaries began in October 2025 to prepare for the 2026 Hajj season. Candidates were subject to a set of general conditions, including their willingness to participate, age, lack of prior Hajj experience, physical and medical aptitude, and priority given to families with no members who have yet to perform the Hajj.
Additional criteria were applied to martyrs of terrorist operations, including the number of years of service and the date of their death. Ahmed Jaâfar emphasized that these criteria allowed the foundation to support 21 candidates this year, consisting of 8 beneficiaries of Revolution martyrs and 13 beneficiaries of terrorist attack martyrs from the army, national guard, national security, presidential security, prisons, and reeducation.
The Fidâa Foundation President also stated that the foundation assumes all expenses related to the pilgrimage, from the departure of the Tunis delegation to their return, while providing medical and material support through dedicated financial allocations. Additionally, the foundation has anticipated pension payments for beneficiaries to enable their families to perform the rites in the best possible conditions.
It is worth noting that the flight carried not only the Fidâa Foundation delegation but also the official Tunisian delegation for the Hajj, which included Minister of Religious Affairs Ahmed Bouhali, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Moncef Boukthir, Minister of Youth and Sports Sadok Mourali, and Minister of Agriculture Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh.
