Founder of Creative Studio Banjer, Sellmy Shapes a Work that Blends Art and Design

Sellmy invests in fashion, visual communication, and cultural imagery, incorporating fragments of Tunisian culture, including dialect, Tamazight, and local expressions, to create a porous aesthetic that can dialogue with both its social roots and international audiences.

The Exhibition: "Diary of the Originator"

As part of the 7th edition of "Phosphor Creative District" (December 11-14), an annual event dedicated to art, design, craftsmanship, fashion, and culinary experiences, Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery presents "Diary of the Originator," a solo exhibition by Hamza Sellmy. The artist follows Duper, a solitary figure wandering through a North African city. Through fragments of life, Sellmy lays bare the silent dramaturgy of contemporary existence: the wear and tear of routines, diffuse pressure, consumerist noise, and the persistent solitude that seeps into the interstices of daily life.

A Journey of Resistance and Self-Discovery

Under Duper's fragile gestures, each movement becomes a form of resistance, a tremor against the inertia of the world. The project imposes itself as an intimate journal, as well as an initiatory journey where each day is reformulated as a new beginning.

About the Artist: Hamza Sellmy

Born in 1990 and based in Sousse, Hamza Sellmy is a self-taught visual artist and entrepreneur who navigates with ease between painting, illustration, animation, and design. His universe, immediately recognizable, is populated by characters with yellow skin, ringed eyes, and raw emotions. These solitary figures, suspended between cultural hyperstimulation and identity quest, embody the ambiguities of a youth in tension.

A Unique and Contemporary Visual Voice

As the founder of the creative studio Banjer, Sellmy shapes a work that blends art and design, investing in fashion, visual communication, and cultural imagery. He incorporates fragments of Tunisian culture, between dialect, Tamazight, and local expressions, creating a porous aesthetic that can dialogue with both its social roots and international audiences. His work has been presented in several collective exhibitions in Tunisia, including at the Yosr Ben Ammar Gallery, and has been featured in international publications such as Dune Magazine and Ancre Magazine, testifying to the rise of a unique and resolutely contemporary visual voice.
