Financial Claims Owed to Tunisian Pharmacists Could Reach 116.5 Million Dinars by End of February 2026

According to official data presented on Tuesday to the Commission of Services and Social Development of the National Council of Regions and Districts, the financial claims owed to Tunisian pharmacists could reach 116.5 million dinars by the end of February 2026.

As of February 6, 2026, the total amount of outstanding claims already stood at 92.1 million dinars, illustrating the growing financial pressure on the pharmaceutical sector. These figures were communicated during a hearing session held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, which brought together several officials and executives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, as part of the monitoring of the pace of settlement of health service benefits.

The detailed financial data reveals that the majority of recorded claims concern debts that have exceeded the regulatory payment deadlines. Thus, the amounts outstanding for more than 60 days represent 71.9 million dinars, which is the largest share of the total outstanding amount. In contrast, debts with a duration of no more than two months are estimated at 20.2 million dinars.

This debt structure highlights persistent delays in the payment of benefits provided by pharmacists, a factor that could affect the financial stability of pharmacies and the continuity of drug supply. In a short-term projection, the estimates presented during the session indicate an expected worsening of the situation. The total claims are expected to reach 116.5 million dinars by the end of February 2026, of which nearly 89 million dinars correspond to old debts that have been outstanding for more than 60 days.

In the face of this worrying development, the issue of accelerating the settlement of claims and establishing sustainable financing mechanisms for the health benefits system remains at the heart of the concerns of sector professionals.
