Parliament Adopts Article 135, Allowing Farmers to Use Drones for Pesticide Spraying
The Parliament adopted Article 135 of the draft law on Wednesday evening, authorizing farmers to use drones for spraying phytosanitary products on agricultural surfaces. This measure aims to ensure faster and more effective intervention, while strengthening crop protection. However, the use of drones remains subject to the required authorizations from the competent authorities.
The Minister of Finance, Michket Salama, indicated in response to deputies that a draft law dedicated to regulating the use of drones is currently being examined and will soon be presented to Parliament. She recalled that this issue does not fall within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance, but rather within the jurisdiction of sovereign ministries.
Article 135 was adopted with 60 votes in favor, 29 votes against, and 14 abstentions.
Creation of a Financing Line for Land Restructuring
Deputies also validated Article 138, which provides for the creation of a financing line for the restructuring of state-owned lands of over 1,000 hectares managed by the Office of State Lands, in several regions including Sfax, Siliana, Béja, and Jendouba. This restructuring is expected to improve the profitability of farms, promote the employment of young promoters and engineers, strengthen control, and ensure the necessary liquidity for their management.
This article obtained 60 favorable votes, 26 votes against, and 10 abstentions.
Regularization of Substitute Teachers' Status
Meanwhile, 77 deputies approved Article 139, related to the regularization of the situation of substitute teachers from before 2006 and 2008. Eighteen deputies voted against, and nine expressed reservations.
