Regulation of Mosque Staff: A New Proposal
The commission for organizational administration, digitization, governance, and anti-corruption will discuss a proposed law presented by MP Syrine Mourabet during the upcoming parliamentary year, starting early October. The goal is to establish a fundamental law to regulate the work of mosque staff.
Key Objectives
This proposal, consisting of 12 chapters, defines the roles and responsibilities of individuals involved:
- Imam-preacher
- Imam for the five daily prayers
- Muezzin
- Caretaker
- Chief caretaker
- Any other person exercising a function within a mosque under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs
Current System Limitations

- Social coverage
- Right to vacations
- Incentive bonuses
Proposed Recruitment Conditions
The proposed law also suggests recruitment conditions, including:
