Extradition Hearing for Halima Ben Ali: French Justice Requests Additional Information

A preliminary hearing was held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Paris regarding the possible extradition of Halima Ben Ali, the youngest daughter of former President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, to Tunisia. Following this hearing, the French justice system requested additional information from the Tunisian authorities before the next scheduled session on December 10, 2025.

According to Al Jazeera, the French prosecutor in charge of extradition cases requested clarification on certain elements, particularly regarding the statute of limitations for certain offenses allegedly committed by Halima Ben Ali.

The case file presented during the hearing indicates that the Tunisian authorities accuse the former president's youngest daughter, currently in her thirties, of financial crimes punishable by up to 20 years in prison. These accusations include money laundering of funds obtained during her father's presidency.

Halima Ben Ali is also the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol at the request of Tunisia for embezzlement.

Her lawyer, Samia Maktouf, stated that her client "has committed no crime or offense" and that she had left Tunisia while still a minor.
