Tunisian Public Prosecution Orders Detention of Food Processing Company Owner
The Public Prosecution Office near the Court of First Instance in Tunis has ordered agents from the Central Brigade of the National Guard in El Aouina to detain the owner of a company specializing in canned and preserved agricultural products, on suspicion of speculation and monopoly.
According to available information, and as part of the ongoing national campaign to combat monopoly and speculation in markets, as well as price manipulation, the warehouses of one of the companies specializing in the manufacture and canning of food products were raided yesterday, Wednesday. Significant quantities of products were seized during the operation.
After consulting with the Public Prosecution Office near the Court of First Instance in Tunis, the office authorized the detention of the company owner, a businessman active in the field of food processing and distribution, on suspicion of speculation and monopoly.
