Djerba‑Zarzis International Airport Records Strong Traffic Surge in 2025
The Djerba‑Zarzis International Airport logged a significant increase in air traffic during 2025, welcoming more than 2.3 million passengers across 16,777 flights. This represents a 6.5 % rise in passenger numbers and a 2.7 % growth in aircraft movements compared with the previous year.
According to data released by the Ministry of Transport in response to a written question submitted by Deputy Halim Boussema to the Assembly of the People's Representatives (ARP), the surge is mainly driven by a sharp uptick in international flights, with passenger traffic up 8.1 % and aircraft movements up 5.3 % relative to 2024.
To boost Djerba‑Zarzis’s tourism appeal and improve services, the Ministry of Transport has earmarked an investment budget of approximately 63.4 million Tunisian dinars for the 2025‑2026 period, followed by an additional 14.2 million dinars planned for 2027‑2030.
These projects aim to:
- Modernize airport infrastructure and security equipment
- Upgrade operational facilities and service quality
- Support digital transformation initiatives
- Adopt sustainable development standards
The enhancements are expected to cement Djerba‑Zarzis International Airport’s role as a key gateway for the tourism region and southeastern Tunisia.
