Over 28,000 Americans Have Returned to the United States “Safe and Sound” from the Middle East Since the Start of U.S. Strikes Against Iran, the U.S. State Department Said on Saturday
“These figures do not include the many Americans who have taken refuge in other countries, nor those who have left the Middle East but are still in transit to the United States,” the State Department clarified in a statement.
“While the availability of commercial flights in the region continues to improve, charter‑flight and ground‑transport operations conducted by the State Department are gradually being ramped up, depending on security conditions,” the same source added.
The United States has closed several of its embassies in the region after Iranian missile attacks.
Multiple governments have begun repatriating their citizens who were stranded in the Middle East amid escalating regional tensions.
