Melloula Border Post Ranks First in Tunisia-Algeria Travel Traffic

According to recent data published by the Tunisian Ministry of Transport, the Melloula border post in the Jendouba governorate has ranked first in Tunisia in terms of travel traffic with Algeria in 2025. Nationally, it ranked second.

A total of 2,660,358 passengers passed through the Melloula border post in 2025, representing a 16% increase compared to 2023 and a 1% increase compared to 2024.

Babouch Border Post Also Sees Significant Growth

The Babouch border post, also located in the Jendouba governorate, ranked third in terms of travel traffic with Algeria and fourth among all border posts in the country.

Sustained Growth in Travel Traffic

Both border posts experienced sustained growth in 2025, with a 59% increase in travel traffic compared to 2023 and a 45% increase compared to 2024.

Minister of Transport Visits Jendouba Governorate

In response to these developments, Tunisian Minister of Transport Rachid Amri recently visited the Jendouba governorate to inspect various infrastructure projects under his department's jurisdiction.

During his visit, the minister inspected the Melloula and Babouch land border posts, examining the conditions for welcoming travelers, the functioning of various services, and the progress of ongoing development and expansion projects.

Minister Amri emphasized the need to preserve the achievements of the Melloula border post, particularly the duty-free zone project, which is the first of its kind in North Africa.
