The professional collective of eyeglass distributors, under the CONECT organization, has expressed its satisfaction and favorable reception regarding the reduction of customs duties imposed on medical eyeglasses, which was approved under Article 72 of the Finance Law for the year 2026. In a statement published on Sunday, December 14, 2025, the collective considered this measure to be important and saw it as the outcome of a constructive interaction and continuous consultation process with the supervisory authority, with the aim of supporting the medical eyeglass sector and strengthening its role within the national health system. It stated that the reduction of customs duties on medical eyeglasses is likely to contribute to improving access to medical eyeglasses and reducing their cost for citizens, which reinforces health prevention and improves the quality of visual care for different population categories. The Collective also welcomed this orientation for its positive impact on visual health, considering medical eyeglasses as an essential and indispensable health product in the process of preventing and managing vision problems, particularly among children and the elderly.
