Tunisian National Tourism Office to Publish New Accommodation Guidelines
The Director-General of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), Mehdi Haloui, announced on Saturday the upcoming publication of four specifications related to new accommodation modes, covering guest houses, rural lodges, family accommodations, and tourist residences.
Objective: Encourage Investment and Diversify Tourist Offer
This initiative aims to encourage investment and diversify the Tunisian tourist offer, with a focus on sustainability and increased competitiveness.
Speaking at a forum dedicated to tourism, artificial intelligence, and sector sustainability, held in Djerba as part of the International Hot Air Balloon and Glider Festival, Mehdi Haloui emphasized that sustainable tourism is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Tourism. The ministry is working to integrate sustainability criteria into hotel standards and investment projects, while supporting the development of cultural, ecological, and natural tourism.
Improving Air Connectivity and Access to Tunisian Destinations
The official also stressed the importance of air connectivity in improving access to Tunisian destinations, announcing enhanced coordination with the Ministry of Transport to develop air transport and simplify authorization procedures. He mentioned the reconquest of the Russian market, the creation of new air routes to China and other Asian markets, such as Korea and Japan, as well as increased international promotion efforts.
Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Innovative Marketing
Mehdi Haloui highlighted the need to renew marketing approaches and exploit the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence to promote the Tunisian destination in an innovative way. According to him, digital technology now allows for direct targeting of tourists worldwide, without requiring a physical presence in markets, thanks to intelligent targeting tools.
Forum Discusses Ways to Strengthen Tunisian Tourism Attractiveness and Sustainability
The forum brought together representatives from the Ministries of Tourism and Transport, as well as public and private sector actors in the tourism industry, who discussed ways to strengthen the attractiveness and sustainability of Tunisian tourism.
