Russia views Tunisia as one of its "traditional and reliable partners" in the Middle East and North Africa, according to Russian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alexander Zolotov. The diplomat highlighted the continuous development of bilateral cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy, trade, and culture.
In an interview with the Tunisian News Agency (TAP) on the occasion of the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World", scheduled to take place from May 12 to 17 in Kazan, Ambassador Zolotov emphasized that the volume of trade between the two countries has exceeded $1.8 billion.
He also noted the growth of Tunisian products on the Russian market, particularly olive oil, as well as the renewed interest of Russian tourists in Tunisia, despite the absence of direct flights between the two countries.
Alexander Zolotov discussed the economic and geopolitical implications of the Kazan Forum, considered one of the main platforms for cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world.
The Russian diplomat also touched on Moscow's relations with African and Muslim countries, reiterating his country's commitment to a "win-win" partnership with Tunisia.
It is worth noting that the 17th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World" will bring together government officials, investors, and economic operators from several countries to strengthen commercial exchanges and strategic partnerships in various sectors.
