Olive Oil Prices Plummet in Kairouan Governorate
Olive oil prices have experienced a significant decline in the Kairouan governorate, dropping below 8 dinars per liter in several areas, according to Mouldi Romdhani, President of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fishing.
Speaking on Diwan FM on Monday, December 15, 2025, Romdhani specified that the current price of olive oil per liter is around 8 dinars, and even as low as 7 dinars and 500 millimes in certain localities within the region.
According to him, this price drop has led several producers to temporarily halt the sale of their olive and olive oil stocks, awaiting an improvement in market conditions.
The agricultural official also emphasized the importance of a rapid intervention by the National Oil Office at the beginning of the olive campaign, believing that such a measure would serve the interests of all stakeholders in the sector.
He recalled that the olive oil industry is a strategic national wealth and a key driver of economic growth, particularly through the generation of foreign exchange earnings.
