Ministry of Health Announces Official Signing of Contract for Future King Salman bin Abdulaziz Hospital

The Ministry of Health announced today, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the official signing of the contract for the construction of the future King Salman bin Abdulaziz Hospital. The ceremony was held at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of Minister of Health Mustapha Ferjani and representatives of the company responsible for the construction work. On the same occasion, Minister Ferjani stated that the site will be officially handed over starting tomorrow, and that construction will begin "in the coming days." The goal is to make the facility operational within a period of 36 months. As a reminder, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Hospital is part of the national plan to strengthen healthcare infrastructure. It aims to provide modern specialized care and alleviate the burden on existing hospitals, while improving access to healthcare services for the population. This university hospital, whose construction has just been officially launched, is financed through cooperation between Tunisia and the Saudi Development Fund, materializing a donation of $85 million intended to equip the public healthcare center with modern infrastructure. The facility is designed to accommodate 500 beds (with the possibility of expansion), multi-specialty services, modern medical equipment, and aims to alleviate the burden on existing hospitals while improving access to care for the center and interior of the country. This project illustrates the solidity of bilateral relations between Tunis and Riyadh. The financing, granted as part of a Saudi donation, is being used to build a modern university hospital, including equipment, in order to strengthen Tunisia's public healthcare offering. Beyond Kairouan, the hospital is part of a national strategy for healthcare development and territorial rebalancing, aiming to bring specialized hospital services closer to the populations of the center-west - a concrete investment in the right to health.
