Governor of Mahdia Announces Contract Signing for Sabkhet Ben Ghayadha Project
The Governor of Mahdia, Anis Laadhari, announced on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the signing of a contract for state support in choosing a strategic partner to implement the Sabkhet Ben Ghayadha project in Mahdia. The contract was signed between the General Instance of Public-Private Partnership (IGPPP) and the MAP/ARLYNK/PWC consortium, for the benefit of the Sebkha Ben Ghayadha Study and Development Company.

The ceremony, held at the Mahdia Governorate headquarters, brought together the Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari, the President of the IGPPP, Atef Majdoub, members of Parliament and the National Council of Regions and Districts, as well as national, regional, and local officials, and representatives of the MAP/ARLYNK/PWC consortium.
Project Objectives
According to Minister Salah Zouari, this signing marks a new stage in the process of reform and implementation of long-awaited major projects. "The Ben Ghayadha project aims to create a smart and developed city, with a coastal urban expansion space to accommodate urban, economic, tourist, and service projects that meet the aspirations of the region's inhabitants," he stated.
Alignment with National Recommendations
He added: "This initiative is in line with the recommendations of the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, and the decisions of the High Committee for the acceleration of the completion of public projects. The IGPPP will accompany the Ben Ghayadha Company at all stages of the call for tenders to select the most suitable strategic partner, in parallel with the finalization of the land acquisition process."

The Minister also emphasized that the success of projects of this magnitude requires close cooperation between institutions, local actors, and the community, inviting everyone to support the company in charge of studies and the consortium of expert offices to achieve the set objectives.
Project Monitoring and Transparency
In the same vein, Minister Salah Zouari announced the upcoming creation of a steering committee responsible for monitoring the project's key stages, providing necessary documents, and ensuring total transparency through public consultations. He stressed the importance of opening the project to new opportunities while taking into account previous studies and competitions.
Citizen and Investor Participation
Finally, the Minister reiterated the importance of active participation by citizens and investors in defining the best possible project, emphasizing that Mahdia could become a national model for the implementation of major urban and economic projects.
