Aghlabide Unit of Surgical Specialties at Ibn El Jazzar University Hospital in Kairouan Performs Obesity Treatment Surgeries
The Aghlabide unit of surgical specialties at Ibn El Jazzar University Hospital in Kairouan has begun performing surgical operations for the treatment of obesity, which were followed by discussions and live monitoring from the conference room.
Dr. Khalil Ben Salah, head of the surgery department, explained that while surgical operations are normally performed at the hospital, the novelty this time is the designation of a medical team to perform three sleeve gastrectomy operations for patients over the two days of Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27.
Meanwhile, around 40 doctors from different governorates of the Tunisian Republic, as well as Algerian doctors, followed the details of the operations live from the conference room. This monitoring took place amidst a rich scientific discussion to exchange ideas and data, and to present questions and advice in the presence of specialized experts in the field.
Dr. Ben Salah added that this event was organized by the Tunisian Association of Metabolic Diseases and Obesity Surgery in cooperation with Ibn El Jazzar University Hospital in Kairouan.
