On Monday, February 16, 2026, the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, presided over a meeting focused on the development prospects of nuclear medicine in Tunisia. During this working session, several major decisions were made. These include updating the healthcare map of nuclear medicine in both public and private sectors, as well as expanding the use of positron emission tomography (PET-scan) equipment. The ministry also decided to equip public institutions with a PET-MRI device, a cutting-edge technology that significantly improves the accuracy of medical imaging and strengthens scientific research, particularly in the fields of neurology and oncology. Additionally, specialized centers will be equipped with the F18-PSMA radiotracer, primarily used for early diagnosis and monitoring of prostate cancer.
