Tragedy Strikes Nabeul Region: Newborn's Lifeless Body Found at Family Home
A dramatic incident shook the Nabeul region on Sunday evening, after the lifeless body of a newborn was discovered at the family's residence. Security forces immediately launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the grandmother and the mother being placed under close medical supervision.
According to initial reports cited by IFM, the young mother, in her twenties, had been urgently admitted to Mohamed Tlatli Hospital for a severe hemorrhage. The medical examination revealed that she had given birth at home and that the umbilical cord had been cut using a sharp object. The lack of information about the newborn's presence raised suspicions among the medical staff, who immediately alerted the authorities.
Following instructions from the public prosecutor's office, the grandmother was taken into custody to determine her role in the circumstances surrounding the baby's death. The mother, still hospitalized, was placed under secure surveillance pending further investigation and the results of medico-legal examinations.
