National Agency for the Promotion of Scientific Research Launches Call for Proposals for FabLabs in Tunisia

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the National Agency for the Promotion of Scientific Research (ANPR) has recently launched a call for proposals aimed at Tunisian associations to develop and support digital fabrication laboratories (FabLabs) in eight governorates. The initiative is part of the "Science With And For Youth" (SWAFY) project, co-financed by the European Union.

Project Overview

The SWAFY project aims to stimulate young people's interest in science, technology, research, and innovation. It also seeks to revitalize scientific clubs and strengthen synergies between education and scientific ecosystem actors.

Call for Proposals

The call for proposals is structured around two main axes:

  1. Creation and Equipment of New FabLabs: The creation and complete equipment of two new spaces in Siliana and Tozeur.
  2. Strengthening Existing FabLabs: The reinforcement of capacities of six existing FabLabs in Ben Arous, La Manouba, Le Kef, Kébili, Kasserine, and Monastir.

Budget and Timeline

The total budget allocated to this action is 328,000 Tunisian dinars (TND), with an average funding of 41,000 TND per space. The project execution period is set at 8 months.

Eligibility Criteria

Associations must meet the following criteria:

  • Be legally established and non-profit
  • Be active in the fields of youth, training, technology, or local development
  • Demonstrate solid technical and financial expertise to carry out the project
  • Show the ability to ensure the sustainability of the laboratories after the end of the subsidy

Deadline and Next Steps

The deadline for submitting proposals is May 31, 2026. The signing of funding conventions is scheduled to take place from July 1, 2026.
