Olive Harvesting Season Kicks Off in Nabeul Governorate
The olive harvesting season began on Monday in the Nabeul governorate, where olive oil production is expected to exceed 90,000 tons, compared to 61,000 tons in the previous season.
Production Estimates
According to Imed El Bey, President of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fishing (Urap), the production of table olives in the region is estimated at 6,300 tons, up from 5,600 tons last year. El Bey shared this information with the Tunisian News Agency (TAP).
Quality Preservation
The official urged farmers and olive mill owners to follow the recommendations of specialized agricultural structures to preserve the quality of the product during harvesting, transportation, and storage operations.
Olive Groves and Production Capacity
The olive groves in the Nabeul governorate cover an area of approximately 39,307 hectares, accounting for 62% of the total area dedicated to fruit trees. The region is home to 49 processing units, including 47 modern olive mills, with a daily extraction capacity of 3,000 tons.
