Nabeul-Hammamet Region Prepares to Welcome 15,000 Tourists for New Year's Celebrations
The regional delegate for tourism in the Nabeul-Hammamet region, Wahid Ben Fraj, announced that the region is expected to host approximately 15,000 tourists, who will be distributed across 32 prepared tourist units, as part of the preparations for the new administrative year.
In a statement to Jawhara FM, Ben Fraj emphasized that the region is preparing for significant events in the coming days, mainly related to end-of-year celebrations and the welcoming of the new administrative year, which coincides with school vacations, making this period one of the major tourist stages of the season. He stated that the preparations are proceeding at the same pace as those for the summer peak, given the importance of this period for boosting tourist activity.
In another context, the regional delegate praised the success of the current tourist season, describing it as exceptional at all levels. He specified that the region had recorded nearly 900,000 arrivals since the beginning of the year until the end of November, with approximately 5 million overnight stays, representing an estimated 5% increase compared to the same period the previous year. He explained that these figures reflect an unusual extension of the tourist season, which was not limited to the months of July and August, but saw activity continue until October, with significant movement in November and December, particularly from the Algerian market.
Regarding preparations, Ben Fraj affirmed that the services of the Regional Tourism Delegation and the inspection team had begun some time ago to conduct a comprehensive sweep of various tourist institutions, focusing on controlling the food chain, respecting hygiene rules, pool cleanliness, service quality, self-insurance systems, and preventive security. He also noted that the region will experience intense activity in terms of tourist travel, which has required intensified surveillance.
In this framework, joint visits were organized with several other services, including the General Directorate of Tourist Security, where a thorough inspection of tourist establishments was conducted, emphasizing self-insurance systems. This campaign concluded with a training and awareness session for the guards and heads of security services of tourist establishments, as well as tourist bus drivers.
According to Ben Fraj, a program has also been developed in coordination with the National Authority for Sanitary Security of Food Products (ONSSA), which is scheduled to launch next week. Ben Fraj concluded his statement by indicating that a special program will be dedicated to New Year's Eve, including a mobile team on the ground and another permanent team at the Delegation to receive calls and potential complaints, to ensure the celebrations take place in the best conditions.
