Medical Source Confirms Stable Condition of Students Injured in School Window Fall

A medical source confirmed on Tuesday that the health condition of three students injured in a window fall at the Mohamed El Hédi El Afif primary school in Hammam El Jebli (a delegation of Hammam Ghezaz, Nabeul governorate) is stable. The victims were able to leave the local hospital in Kélibia after receiving necessary medical care, where they were evacuated by civil protection units immediately after the accident.

In the same context, Mohamed Abdelatif, general secretary of the Nabeul Basic Education Federation, explained in a statement to Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) that the incident was caused by the fall of an old window on a group of third-grade students from the Mohamed El Hédi El Afif school. The accident triggered panic and fainting among the children, injuring three of them who suffered minor to moderate scratches.

He added that medical examinations confirmed the stability of the health condition of the three students, while specifying that they were referred for a CT scan (el-mifras) in case their condition worsened or secondary effects appeared.

The union leader emphasized that this school, which has a high student density, urgently needs renovation and maintenance work due to the aging of its infrastructure, particularly doors and windows. He also deplored the fact that, despite the school's inclusion in the 2018 budget for a complete renovation and repeated calls to intervene, the work has not yet begun.

Background and Context

The incident highlights the need for urgent maintenance and renovation work at the school, which has been neglected for years. The school's infrastructure, including doors and windows, is in a state of disrepair, posing a risk to the safety and well-being of students. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in education infrastructure and ensuring that schools are equipped to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for students.
