The 11th Edition of the Harissa Festival Opens Today
The 11th edition of the Harissa Festival opens today, Friday, October 17, in Nabeul, announced the Association for the Preservation of the City of Nabeul (ASVN). This flagship event celebrates the iconic condiment of Cap Bon, which has been inscribed in the national intangible cultural heritage for two years and recognized by UNESCO.
Festival Program and Objectives
Organized until October 19, the festival aims to enhance Tunisian culinary heritage through harissa, highlighting traditional preparation methods. The program includes:
- Exhibitions and sales
- Live culinary demonstrations
- Conferences
- Mosaic workshops
- Cultural events
- Competitions rewarding the best local chefs and producers
New Feature: Artisanal Ceramics
This year's novelty features the ceramic artisans of Nabeul, winners of the ARTITERROIR competition, presenting creations inspired by peppers, the central ingredient of harissa. This initiative highlights the links between local craftsmanship and the gustatory identity of the Nabeul region.
Organization and Partnerships
The event is organized by the ASVN, with the support of the PAMPAT project, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Tunisia, and the Swiss Embassy in Tunis. It is part of the national strategy to promote local products, led by the Ministry of Agriculture through the General Directorate of Agricultural Promotion (DGPA), in partnership with the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA).
