Exceptional Intervention Program for Cleanliness and Environmental Maintenance Implemented in Nabeul
The municipality of Nabeul has launched an exceptional intervention program for cleanliness and environmental maintenance. This initiative will take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as indicated by Moez Berrakcha, the Secretary General of the municipality, in a statement to the TAP Agency.
Program Objectives
The program aims to intervene in as many streets and neighborhoods as possible to remove waste, debris, and construction residues. During the last cleanliness campaign, approximately 100 tons of debris and 80 tons of household waste were collected, in addition to the effort to sweep around 4,000 linear meters of roads, eliminating dust and weeds along the sidewalks.
Achievements and Ongoing Efforts
According to the same source, nearly 3 hectares of land have been cleaned, in parallel with the daily collection of waste. Since the beginning of November, the concerned services within the municipality have started planting new trees and replacing destroyed palm trees. Berrakcha added that a project entrusted to a specialized company is underway to dredge and clean the stormwater drainage systems, particularly in the medina and the souk of Nabeul. Campaigns are also being conducted against the anarchic occupation of sidewalks and public spaces in the region.
