Tunis Court of Appeal Renders Verdict in Bab El Jazira Murder Case
The criminal chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal has delivered its verdict in the case of the murder of a young man at the Bab El Jazira collective taxi station in the capital. The main defendant was sentenced to 20 years in prison, while two co-defendants each received a 5-year prison sentence.

The events date back to a violent verbal altercation that escalated. The victim was beaten before being fatally stabbed. The defendants were prosecuted for voluntary homicide with premeditation, aggravated violence, as well as possession and detention of a white weapon without authorization.

According to the elements of the judicial file, the victim was first hit in the head with stones and received several punches. Once the young man was on the ground, the main aggressor inflicted knife blows to his abdomen and leg.
Sentence Reduction
It is worth noting that in the first instance, the main defendant had been sentenced to 30 years in prison. After appealing, his sentence was reduced to 20 years in prison by the criminal chamber.
