Ministry of Trade and Export Development Reports Surge in Economic Violations During Ramadan

The Ministry of Trade and Export Development announced in a press release that 11,282 economic violations were recorded between the 1st and the 16th of Ramadan 2026. This rise represents a 7.5 % increase compared with the same period in 2025, when 10,496 violations were logged.

These figures come after 56,924 inspection visits were carried out on the ground, covering a wide range of wholesale and retail businesses and points of sale. The interventions spanned 2,489 zones distributed across the entire national territory.

According to the ministry, this outcome is part of a broader strategy to strengthen price monitoring, combat monopolistic practices and speculation, and ensure a steady supply of essential goods throughout the month of Ramadan.
