In Preparation for UNESCO's Global Conference on Cultural Policies MONDIACULT 2025 in Spain
Tunis will host, starting this Monday, the first national workshop on the implementation of the "UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators" at the Young Creators Theater, in the City of Culture, from September 15 to 17, 2025. MONDIACULT will bring together cultural actors, partners, and leaders from around the world in Barcelona, Spain, from September 29 to October 1, 2025, to define and commit to a global agenda for culture. In 2025, MONDIACULT is hosted by the Spanish Government in Barcelona, bringing together ministers of culture from all UNESCO member states, along with representatives of intergovernmental organizations, academics, civil society, youth, and cultural professionals, as well as private sector partners.
UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators Workshop
The "UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators" workshop is an event organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Municipality of Tunis, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with the support of the European Union (EU). The implementation is made possible under the program titled "Promoting evidence-based policies and actions and supporting policy development to strengthen the contribution of creative sectors and industries to sustainable development," funded by the EU. The project will implement the UNESCO Culture 2030 indicators methodology to measure and track progress in the contribution of culture to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in a cross-cutting manner across the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and targets. It will therefore directly serve the implementation and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda at the national and local levels. This will be important for supporting advocacy efforts to make the role of culture in sustainable development more visible.
About the UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators
As a set of thematic indicators, the UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators are voluntary and complement the UN's globally agreed-upon SDG indicators. The workshop will provide an introduction and orientation to the implementation of the UNESCO Culture 2030 Indicators methodology at the national and urban levels for Tunisia and the city of Tunis. Participants in this workshop include representatives of key institutions related to various ministries, as well as groups and individuals from the academic and civil society sectors.
