Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti Participates in High-Level Meeting of the Global Development Initiative
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, M. Mohamed Ali Nafti, took part in the high-level meeting of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), held under the theme "Firmly Holding onto Our Original Aspirations, United to Build a Brighter Future for Global Development", on September 23, 2025, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Key Highlights of the Minister's Address
On this occasion, the Minister emphasized the importance of providing necessary political support to the various voices within the United Nations that highlight the urgency of accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Development Agenda, particularly through:
- Developing financing mechanisms
- Strengthening technology transfer programs
- Enhancing capacity-building initiatives
He also recalled the challenging context in which this meeting is taking place, marked by:
- The escalation of wars
- The ongoing crimes committed against the Palestinian people and their severe repercussions
- The persistent silence on violations of international law
Call for Enhanced Cooperation and Support
Furthermore, the Minister stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and multilateral initiatives, including South-South cooperation, and called on international financial institutions and donor countries to design new means of financial support for developing countries.
