Global Health and Peace Initiative: Tunisia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in High-Level Event
During the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, participated in a high-level parallel event titled "Global Health and Peace Initiative" on September 23, 2025, in New York, organized at the initiative of the Sultanate of Oman.
Key Highlights of the Minister's Intervention
In his address, the Minister emphasized the interdependence between health and peace, stating that there can be no lasting peace without good health, and that no health initiative can succeed in a climate of conflict and instability. He also:
- Presented Tunisia's experience in strengthening its healthcare system, expanding universal coverage, and improving the preparedness of healthcare facilities
- Stressed the importance of integrating mental health into national policies to build a strong and stable society
Humanitarian Situation in Palestine
The Minister condemned the humanitarian situation in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where civilian populations are suffering from the ongoing aggression, lack of medical resources, resurgence of diseases, and malnutrition. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing this crisis.
Tunisia's Commitment to Global Health and Peace
At the end of his speech, the Minister reaffirmed Tunisia's commitment to supporting all international initiatives that place human health and peace at the heart of collective efforts towards a more stable world.
