Tunisia Introduces National Label "TUNPAY" for Mobile Payments
The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) and the Société Monétique Tunisie (SMT) have jointly introduced a national label called "TUNPAY" to unify the visual identity of mobile payment services in Tunisia. The label aims to facilitate the identification of acceptance points and strengthen user trust.
According to a note published on May 5, 2026, by the BCT, the label embodies innovation, security, and accessibility in mobile payments, serving a modern, inclusive, and sustainable ecosystem.
To achieve this, mobile wallet issuers, including banks, the postal service, and payment institutions, are invited to adopt the "TUNPAY" label as their national visual identity and deploy it across their entire network, integrating it into digital channels and acceptance points (merchants, agencies, and payment agents).
"To ensure a structured dissemination of this label among the public, its deployment must be accompanied by targeted communication highlighting 'TUNPAY' as a symbol of trust, simplicity, and reliability," the BCT emphasized.
The adoption and promotion of the "TUNPAY" label are considered essential for strengthening user trust and accelerating the adoption of mobile payments nationwide.
The BCT also stated that the introduction of the "TUNPAY" label is part of its strategy to develop digital payments, while promoting and generalizing the use of digital payments, particularly through the deployment of mobile payments.
