MOBIDOC Green Post-Doc: Supporting Research and Employment in the Environmental Sector
As part of the Project to Support Research and Higher Education in the Environmental Sector (ARESSE), funded by the European Union, the National Agency for the Promotion of Scientific Research (ANPR) is organizing a signing ceremony for the MOBIDOC Green Post-Doc conventions, scheduled to take place on November 12th at the City of Sciences in Tunis.
Introduction to MOBIDOC
The MOBIDOC (Mobility for Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Students) program, launched by the ANPR in 2012, aims to strengthen interactions between research and the socio-economic environment. It provides young researchers with the opportunity to develop applied research projects, directly oriented towards the concrete needs of beneficiary organizations, whether they are companies, associations, municipalities, or research centers.
MOBIDOC Green Post-Doc: A Positive Impact on Employment and the Environment
Within the framework of the ARESSE project, a MOBIDOC program dedicated to collaborative research in the environmental sector has been established: MOBIDOC Green. "With MOBIDOC Green, we want to support Tunisian municipalities on environmental issues and develop partnership research that meets the specific needs of the productive and societal environment," said Professor Chedly Abdelly, Director General of the ANPR and National Coordinator of the ARESSE project. He added: "MOBIDOC will enable young researchers to benefit from a dual scientific and professional competence, which will strengthen their employability by enriching their profiles in the job market and stimulating their entrepreneurial spirit."
Selected Projects
The selected projects cover a range of themes: climate change, circular economy, waste management and valorization, renewable energy and energy efficiency, biodiversity preservation, sustainable management of natural resources (water and soil), as well as urbanization and sustainable cities.
First Session of MOBIDOC Green Post-Doc 2024
The first session, launched in November 2024, received 139 applications, with 75 projects being pre-selected. These projects involve 54 beneficiary organizations, with 67% being socio-economic organizations and 33% being research centers. Among the socio-economic organizations, there are mainly private companies, but also local authorities, associations, and public institutions. This first session revealed a strong female participation, with more than 94% of the projects being led by women. In terms of themes, the circular economy and waste management dominate with 55% of the projects, followed by sustainable management of natural resources (16%), biodiversity preservation (12%), and renewable energy and energy efficiency (5%). Projects related to climate change account for 4%, those on urbanization and sustainable cities 3%, and 5% explore multidisciplinary themes.
Beyond Funding: MOBIDOC's Impact
In addition to funding, MOBIDOC promotes the transfer of technologies and the professional integration of young researchers. To date, the program has enabled the recruitment of many doctors, the publication of scientific articles in indexed and impacted journals, the filing of patents, the creation of start-ups, and the obtaining of national and international funding.
